To make a good lens prototype, you have to pay attention to the following points. 1. Make sure you pick up the good PMMA block. This is a demo project. Parts are made by vacuum casting in ABS like and PMMA like material. In the picture, you will see what kind of finish we can do. The part in white is painted and silk-sceen of the logo. And you can also find the transparent paint of various kinds of colors. Vacuum Casting is the best way for low volume production, especially when you need 10-20 pieces of parts for the testing and the show.
We assume every designer want to make their design look pretty, unless the prototype is for functional testing. Take this CNC milling shift lever prototype as an example. There are three components in this assembly. The base is made in ABS with black painting. The o-ring is made in ABS with chroming finish. The lens is made in PMMA with polishing and silk-screen on the rear surface. Please don’t hesitate to contact us, if you want to transfer your design to a real product.

Q:What tolerances can you achieve?
A:SL and SLS models are typically +/- 0.1mm in X&Y and +/-0.3mm in Z (XYZ as per the build orientation, not per your design orientation). This varies up or down for various geometries and sizes. If a customer needs a tight tolerance in a particular area, they can specify this in a 2D PDF and we will machine or finish the part to suit.
